2021 ARCHITECT/DESIGNER

HANS BALDAUF
FAIA, LEED AP Founding Principal, BCV Architecture
Hans Baldauf is a founding principal of BCV Architecture + Interiors. Mr. Baldauf has worked across a variety of project types including mixed use development, flagship stores, retail centers, multi-unit and single family residences, market halls, specialty food shops, restaurants and wineries. In addition to his responsibilities as a design principal, Mr. Baldauf is Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Baldauf’s longstanding interest in the public realm has led BCV to pursue a wide variety of project types which at their core enrich civic life. Each design problem is considered both on its own terms as well as how it fits into the larger context. A LEED accredited professional, Mr. Baldauf is also a strong advocate of a wider vision of sustainability inspired by the tenets of the Slow Food Movement. The combination of the celebratory aspects of Slow Food which constitutes “good” and its insistence with “clean” and “fair” complements the LEED rating system.
Mr. Baldauf has taught architecture at Yale University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Notre Dame, where he served as visiting faculty at their Rome Studies program. In addition to his teaching, Mr. Baldauf has also been active in the Bay Area arts and architecture community, serving on various boards including the Friends of the Bancroft Library, CUESA, and as chairman of the Maybeck Foundation.
