Found and Owner, C CASA
Napa is a city where Mexican food abounds — renowned chefs have often cited taco trucks as favorite stops. C Casa— “An Innovative Taqueria,” at Oxbow Public Market is doing something quite different, however, with tacos.
What makes this tiny shop unique is the crossing of culinary boundaries, using ingredients from all different cuisines. Topping the made-to-order tortilla, for example, one might find rotisserie duck mixed with spinach, red onions and goat cheese, all tossed in a cumin vinaigrette.
The woman behind this fresh vision of a taqueria — the “C” in C Casa — is Catherine Bergen, who launched C Casa at Oxbow Public Market in 2010
At C Casa, the focus is on fresh, “quick cuisine” that is healthy and delicious, using original flavor combinations and sustainable ingredients, at a fair price in a casual environment.
Cheers to Catherine and more C Casa’s to come!
Co-Founder and Owner, Bookmine
Naomi Chamblin is the co-owner of Napa Bookmine, an independent bookstore, that opened at Oxbow Public Market in 2016. Bookmine has a location in downtown Napa and just opened their third outlet in St. Helena this past fall.
Naomi grew up surrounded by books- since 1976 her father has owned two used bookstores in Florida called Chamblin Bookmine. She thought she might start a book swap in her garage, but aided by 15,000 books from her father’s inventory and a vigorous go-fund me type campaign to bring the books to Napa, she opened a bookstore instead.
“Books remind people to slow down, something we desperately need in this day and age. Oxbow Public Market is a wonderful meeting place for locals, and we are thrilled to be a part of it, “says Naomi.
Napa Bookmine at Oxbow Public Market offers a selection of travel, wine, art and design, as well as lifestyle books and periodicals. They also feature an expanded children’s section, and offer a selection of vintage and collectible culinary-focused books. In addition, they carry a focused array of magazine titles and present author readings and book-signings on a regular basis.
Every public market needs a great, community bookseller and Napa Bookmine certainly fits that bill.
